PARIS– The U. S. people’s debut in Olympic 3×3 sports at the Paris Games was one to miss.
After failing to make it to the Tokyo Games, the Americans lost to Serbia on Tuesday evening in their opening match of the 2018 Olympics to lose 22-14.
Marko Brankovic had eight positions and Strahinja Stojacic added seven, including a 2-pointer that ended it with 2: 34 remaining, to direct Serbia, the bronze medal winner in Tokyo.
After failing to qualify for the previous Olympics, the United States signed past NBA player Jimmer Fredette. However, he only managed four details in the victory.
With about three minutes left, Kareem Maddox scored a 2-pointer to make an 18-14 result. Dejan Majstorovic therefore made a 2-point killed before Dylan Travis missed for the U. S. to set up Stojacic’s match success.
Serbia did n’t miss a 1-point shot, making all 12 attempts, while the U. S. made just 10 of 16 of those opportunities, including a miss by Fredette on a wide-open layup.
To lead the United States, Maddox scored six factors. Canyon Barry, the brother of Hall of Famer Rick Barry who works as a scholar for a security specialist, added two factors and a bounce.
Due to the possibility of severe storms in the area, neither group spoke to investigators following the game.
France 21, Poland 19
Lucas Dussoulier scored nine factors, including the game-winning 2-pointer, to direct France over Poland.
With one more half of a minute left, Dussoulier missed a 2-pointer to make it a link at 19-point. However, Dussoulier made the picture and took the unpleasant rise before finishing it with the help of Franck Seguela.
Przemysław Zamojski and Bogucki had six positions each to direct Poland.
Latvia 21, Lithuania 14
Leading Latvia over Lithuania as the defending champion Nauris Miezis scored nine factors and four touchdowns.
Francis Lacis and Zigmars Raimo were both named for the Paris Games after Miezis and Karlis Lasmanis were both named after the Estonian team that won gold in Tokyo.
” This is the Olympics, and you have to be mentally ready”, Miezis said. ” This is the most important thing. We have two new people, and I hope they saw how it will go around”.
With about 512 minutes left, Lacis sank a slam, Lacis followed it with a tray, and Latvia took the lead.
With one moment remaining, Lithuania was five before Aurelijus Pukelis broke it. However, Miezis added four more positions to Latvia’s final five to tie it all up.
Miezis enjoyed the fans when the sport first appeared in Tokyo after playing in clear venues.
” It was an awesome group and atmosphere”, he said. ” This is a fast game, and it pushes up your strength”.
With eight items, Pukelis and Evaldas Dziaugys had the most points.
Netherlands 21, China 16
The Netherlands won, thanks to Worthy de Jong, who scored nine details and four touchdowns.
With about seven minutes left, Netherlands extended their prospect to 8-4 with a 5-0 surge.
After about five minutes passed, Dimeo van der Horst scored a tray to give the Netherlands a five-point lead. But Wenbo Lu scored to find China within 13-10 with 3½ minutes left.
China closed to 19-15 on a box by Ning Zhang with under a minute remaining. With 29 seconds left, De Jong gave a layup before China ducked in and added another bottle.
Jiaren Zhao had six positions for China, while Zhang had seven.
