Sonny Dykes, the TCU manager, confirmed on Tuesday that he plans to add former Houston manager Dana Holgorsen to his team and that he will also fill a position for former Arizona State and Hawai’i head coach Todd Graham.
The two mentors will act as advanced spies and analysts, according to Dykes. Graham, who has a protective history, may work with the act. Holgorsen, an unpleasant thoughts, will work with the defence, with each trying to find faults they’d incident from their point of view.
” They’re talented people that I have known for more than 20 years, who both have been very successful and have a special perspective”, Dykes said. ” They can assist us win”.
Graham, 59, is a Dallas/Fort Worth local who was 106-72 as a head coach at Rice, Tulsa, Pitt, Arizona State and Hawaii. In response to player complaints about his demanding training tone, he quit at Hawaii in 2021. Graham claimed that he was only asked to “do what is best for me, my home, and my health” and that he had been.
Prior to TC U’s run to the national championship game, he has visited Dykes and offered suggestions in his first year as an informal adviser.
In 2022, Dykes told ESPN,” I love talking to people who see things different than I do.” ” Todd is quite direct”.
Holgorsen, 53, has worked at four Big 12 institutions, including working alongside Dykes at Texas Tech from 2000 to 2006 under Mike Leach. In 2005 and 2006, Holgorsen and Dykes shared offensive coordinator jobs with the Red Raiders. Holgorsen spent the past five years as Houston’s manager, going 31-28 with a 12-2 mark in 2021, and was fired following a 4-8 time next fall. He went 61-41 in eight months at West Virginia, recording three AP top-20 ends.
After a 13-2 time in 2022, TCU finished a disappointing 5-7 next month. In addition to Graham and Holgorsen joining the team, Dykes added two more past head coaches, including former Nevada trainer Ken Wilson and former Idaho State trainer Andy Avalos, as defensive coordinator.
In the fresh 16-team Big 12 roster, TCU placed 10th overall in the summer media surveys. The Winged Frogs kick off the winter on Friday, Aug. 30 at Stanford.
