Right-hander Luis Garcia and Sims were both acquired by the Red Sox ahead of the business date on Tuesday. On Thursday or Friday, the team will include Garcia to its roster.
Yohan Ramirez, a former right-hander, was given task by the Red Sox to create space for Sims. After being waived on Sunday, Ramirez started only one activity for Boston.
In addition to signing shortstop Jamie Westbrook from Worcester, the Red Sox sold infielder Jamie Westbrook for Triple-A.
Sims, 30, went 1-4 with a 3.57 ERA and one save in 43 looks out of the Cincinnati pitching this year.
Sogard’s second appearance may mark his major league album. The 26-year-old is slashing .279/. 382/. 439 at Worcester this year with 12 house works, 17 double and 54 RBIs. He’s not in Wednesday’s portfolio against the Seattle Mariners.
Westbrook, 29, batted .150 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 21 games in his rookie campaign.
Ramirez, 29, pitched 1⅓ innings Tuesday and gave up three runs ( two earned ). In 2024, the Red Sox were his third staff. He’s pitched for eight clubs in his major league job, compiling a 6-9 history with a 4.58 ERA.
