Evgeny Kuznetsov, the former center of the Carolina Hurricanes, has agreed to a four-year agreement with Music Saint Petersburg, the Kontinental Hockey League announced on Wednesday.
After submitting absolute discounts, Kuznetsov’s deal with the Hurricanes was terminated two weeks ago. In the final season of his$ 64.2 million, seven-year contract, Kuznetsov left the$ 6 million owed to him in 2017. His KHL contract terms were never made public.
Before the March deal date, Carolina made the purchase of Kuznetsov from Washington. The Assets won the Stanley Cup with a lead scoring and Conn Smythe in the process, but Kuznetsov has since struggled. In a restricted capacity with the Hurricanes, he scored 13 points in their next round of finals.
Kuznetsov was suspended from three games without earn by the NHL in September 2019, less than a fortnight after receiving a four-year ban for playing for Russia due to a good cocaine test.
Kuznetsov more lately joined the February NHL/NHLPA person assistance program. The Capital placed him on exemptions after he received a practice-related software clearance.
